Faith purchased a chart from me this weekend, sent me a note in the Etsy shop, and Thanked me for the "Appeal to Heaven" flag that I made and posted on the Blog for Free.....So that reminded me it is a good time to share it again since its been 3 years....

Winter Holiday Free Designs

I have not posted much at all this year...I do miss all of and sharing some stitching work.

I will try harder this year to share more. I need to get organized and basically more focused.

I have been busy with Family, church, and many other things, so I am sitting here with a book to Plan.

My goal is to plan for every week and try my best to accomplish those goals, everything is God willing.

That is what Pastor Gough used to say to us for all of his plans. :)

So while I am working on my book of goals I thought I should at least share my previous years free designs, you never know if there is someone new that has not seen them yet.

A Freebie and another Peek at the first Pin to be released!!

Happy Day!!, This is a free design that I gave away long ago in 2008,

 I have revised it to give away today.

The original was made to give to a friend as a Christmas Gift

but I have changed the saying in the back to

 “When This You See Remember Me”

 

There is a place in the back of this floss tag for you to stitch your initials, along with more small roses, hearts, and the saying.

 I did make mine into a floss tag but you can do whatever you would like with it!!

 

 BE Creative

 

The center for the roses and leaves is left blank for you to choose your own floss centers.

The outline for these areas is in the design but the centers are up to you.

I used some over-dyed floss and some different stitches such as eyelets and some over one stitching.

 

The stitch count is 49 wide by 35 high for one side

28ct over (2)  or 14ct Aida            3.5 x 2.5

32ct over (2)  or 16ct Aida           3 x 2.18

How to finish a Cross Stitch Design around a canvas block

 Happy Monday to everyone!!

I promised last night that I would show you how I finished 

the Wreath designs around the 4 x 4 canvas block...and here goes!!

1) First I purchased these 4 x 4 canvas blocks from Michaels 

2) and then I purchased double sided rug tape from Amazon

(EZlifego Double Sided Tape Heavy Duty)

3) I cut 2 strips a little less than 4 inches and

 placed one down on one side and then another on the opposite side.

4)  I then took the top protective film off each of the opposite strips and

 then laid the fabric over the covered canvas side (Right Side Up) and made sure it was centered,

I pulled up one side of the fabric and lightly pressed it down and then the other side also.

NEXT Check to make sure it is aligned straight and adjust as necessary, then press down firmly.

5) I then proceeded to do the same to the other 2 sides of the canvas block with the fabric.

6) I then pulled the overlapping edges and 

pinned them in place, 

pull tight to make them taunt and as flat as you can. 

Like wrapping a present ☺

7) Then proceed to stitch these down with a matching thread.

Please note you might have to take a precaution and use a thimble

 because the fabric has been pressed down onto a sticky surface 

and the needle will need an extra push to glide.

8) Do the same for all 4 edges

9) Next will be some lacing, I should have had a 

larger piece of fabric for the design to finish it easier, 

but I did not so I made adjustments along the way.

10) I laced the other side also (the opposite direction),

 not the neatest 

but no one will ever see it but you and I!!

HAHA

11) I cut a piece of wool 4 x 4 that I had from Weeks Dye Works

laid it on top and whip stitched it down around the outer edges.

You can display these blocks as stand alone

 or you can add a hanger to the back and display on a wall or door.

All Done!!

A Free Chart "An Appeal To Heaven" Flag

 

I have seen this Flag recently and I love what it stands for. I do pray for our Country and that it turns from the ways that it has been going in and I know that God is the only one that can revive it and turn it around.

This is a Free Chart for you to stitch and share with your Family and Friends, and I ask you to search the internet to learn about the flag and the times that George Washington was living in and how they reflect on our times today. Here is a quick note for you on what I pulled together.

The "An Appeal to Heaven" flag was the first flag of our nation and was flown by George Washington's navy in 1775. It was also flown throughout the colonies during the Revolutionary War as a declaration that their only hope was in the God of Heaven. The phrase "An Appeal to Heaven" implies that when all resources and justices on earth are exhausted, only "An Appeal to Heaven" remains.
